Hazel Chu Bio
Dear Trinity Graduates,
I am honoured to be nominated by so many of you to run in this Seanad Bye-Election. As Lord Mayor of Dublin, I oversaw our capital city during the worst crisis of our lifetime. I worked to ensure supports were in place for the most vulnerable, the marginalised, for older people and for us all. I have fought for diversity, inclusion and I have worked tirelessly to truly deliver on a better quality of life, cleaner air and greener transport for our city.
I want to bring this leadership to the Seanad. As a Senator, I will keep fighting for women’s rights, tackle discrimination and lead a sustainable economic recovery, especially by providing affordable green homes.
My experience, from talking to constituents, to working with advocacy groups in mental health and maternity care, will shape better policy. Valuing inclusion and diversity enriches all our lives. I want to continue to ensure marginalised groups do not keep bearing the brunt of the pandemic. As the climate and biodiversity crises get worse, industries that have provided livelihoods for years need our support.
Now is the time to find a new version of prosperity- where everyone has a secure roof over their head, every child can play outside safely, where our rivers are clean, women feel confident at work and in the community, where diverse opinions are respected, and different experiences valued.
I will work with you to make that happen.
When you receive your ballot, I ask that you give me your number one vote. Please visit my website hazelchu.ie to learn more or to get in contact.
Many thanks,
Hazel Chu
